Video I took of the entire hike.

Recent hike up to Mt. Wilson using the Old Mt. Wilson Trail that starts in Sierra Madre. Still one of the tougher hikes out there. 7.3 miles each way. Peak elevation is low at 5,699 feet. But the average grade along this trail is 12.7%. So it's an extreme workout, and third steepest trail among the Original Southern California Six Pack of Peaks.

So the weatherman from multiple sources said that it was going to be an overcast morning with highs in Sierra Madre in the low 80's and the peak being in the low 70's. Starting from the trailhead, it was in the high 60's with a slight chill in the air. That changed quickly, as there was no overcast. Up to 1/2 point, the mountains and trees were shading the sun so it wasn't bad. By the 3/4 point, it was approaching the 90's. With the peak coming in at 88 on my watch. Going down, the high was 95. In this heat, went through 2 liters of water going up, 1 liter at the peak, and 2 liters coming down.

Thankfully, the Cosmic Cafe was open for business. Which includes the restrooms and the water refill station.

As far as the fire damage. Everything looked pretty much the same as when I did it earlier in the year. The good news is, some of the browned trees where showing some green leaves. So hopefully they will be able to grow back nice and healthy.

I did notice on this hike one structure that I will have to explore in the future along first water. I did take a detour down a path to first water, by the rope railing. It was interesting as there was some artifacts along that trail. At this time, the stream was completely dry except for a few sections of bedrock.
