Yesterday was slightly cloudy. It left the views limited causing us only to be able to see into the crater. The hike up to the boulder field is pretty straight forward. When you begin the climb there is definitely not a correct path. Just do your best and make sure your pack is not top heavy. We also put our poles away for this section. My wife thought some cheap cloves would have been useful but I didn’t need them. The loose rock after the boulder field was a challenge but we have definitely been on worse. Make sure you have some gators on and just grind it out. Make sure to be on the lookout for goats on the ridge. We got eyes on 2 for sure but there might have been a 3rd laying down. Lastly, make sure to have your permit because they are checking.
