Windy day! Gusts up to 55mph. Got to practice these conditions and  make sure I was safely bracing myself at several times.  Normally wouldn’t do a day like this solo but was with an experienced friend. It was good training for a gusty conditions. We did several safety check ins with each other. Beautiful hike and clear day. Light packed snow past the saddle at a few points. Never had to use spikes

  1. Hello! Did you have to use microspikes for the snow? I’ll be doing Ontario peak this weekend and I since they are on similar paths I want to gauge whether or not I need to bring my microspikes.

    1. Didn’t need spikes for cucamonga, but Ontario peak can be different. a fellow hiker we chatted with said Kelly camp was still all snow towards Ontario peak.
