Beautiful, warm day with no wind. (ferocious wind overnight at Kelley’s Camp)
All shaded north and east facing sections of trail still hold a layer of snow about Ice House Saddle. It got slushy in the afternoon. Traction was fine with trail runners and trekking poles. Just be cautious. Micro spikes would have been moderately useful, but will not help if one is not already comfortable walking on snow and able to judge any Ivey patches to avoid.
All in all, a beautiful low snow year hike.
Delicious water at the Columbine spring!
