Started at 6:41am. At the summit by 2:21pm. Back at the car by 7:06pm. Cucamonga was harder than Last weeks summit of Baldy. Crampons, helmet, trekking poles, and ice axe highly recommended. It Snowed off and on for about 4 hours. The sun was barely out. It was plenty cold. I made the mistake of thinking the year around spring next to the trail right before it kind of switchbacks to the saddle was actually completely covered by snow. I never saw it or heard it. I even double backed for it because I only brought less than a liter of water and a few empty bottles to fill once I got to the spring but no dice. Luckily there was a small waterfall opening that i topped my bottles with.

hike to the saddle is easy. After the saddle make sure you have the trail map downloaded. Original trail is completely covered in snow. Super dangerous too. One bad step and you’re sliding down the mountain. I was hiking less than one mile per hour after the saddle. The last 1.5 miles before the summit was hell. Super steep. It felt like forever. I did slide back down with my ice axe. Just like Baldy I slid down with my FJALL raven pants. Best pants to hike with. They take a beating. I went through about 3 liters of water. I had beef jerky and dried mango’s to hold me over. I’m beat. I never want to hike Cucamonga in the snow again. 12 hrs at Cucamonga 💀 it was too long.
