We decided to knock out our last 2 peaks…by doing 3. LOL! We started by 7:30 am and were done before 5 pm. This trail is not for the faint of heart. It's important to have plenty of water (even if it's cold) and lots of food/fuel. I usually never get hungry on hikes but I am so glad I had plenty to keep me fueled on this one because I got hungry at multiple points. We started at Ice House Canyon and made our way up to Cucamonga first. I had done Cucamonga before but for some reason it felt a lot harder this day, perhaps because of a minor injury. The weather was honestly perfect. Brought plenty of layers and ended up stripping some off and then putting them back on throughout the day, but for a December hike, it wasn't very cold at all. Once we completed Cucamonga, we headed back down and then veered towards Big Horn Peak. This was tough because the trail isn't marked and it was VERY steep to start. Luckily we had downloaded the All Trails map which helped a lot, but there were areas that had a lot of overgrowth and the trail was not clear. Once we got to the top of Big Horn, we had to go back down, AGAIN, and then make our way up to Ontario Peak, which was probably the more gradual climb of the 3. I am glad we went the order that we went in, though, because leaving Cucamonga for last would've meant going up that mountain after hours of hiking and being exhausted. Ultimately, I was super proud of getting it done and conquering the 3 peaks on one day.
