The hike to Cuyamaca was completed after Volcan on 3/12. Before heading to Camp Picacho CG, the group went for a brunch and made a beeline for Mom’s apple pie.

A few minutes of zigzagging along 79 and we were in the parking lot. As there was a lot of snow on the trail via Azalea Glen, we decided to use the lookout road. The road was probably covered by snow as well by at least 75%. The climb was slow as the uphill was apparent.

Although icy, the temperature was on a warm side since we started around noon. Sone areas were plowed but towards the top, road was covered. There were some questionable paw prints on the side on the road quater mile to the top, which we didn’t notice on the way up. A couple guys we met by the tower mentioned about that.

The sign was new to me, last year it was the bluish color that probably someone collected as well. Still glad that other individual was kind enough to replace and that I was grateful.

Opposite side of the tower, overlooking the mountain ranges and the valleys reminded me of Ontario peak with it’s sole dried pine tree. Had a blast in our obligatory photo op and hydrated. For a while we had the place for ourselves but started to hike back when a new group emerged.

As always, the time was cut shorter going to the car and I was glad that I got a box of apple pie that we started to consume as soon as we reached the parking lot, just starving😀
