This trail is what it claims to be, a truck trail. I drove my SUV the six miles from the Maple Springs sign to the start of the “trail”. There was only one runner I came across and one cyclist otherwise it was all trucks and dirt bikes. Everyone was nice and slowed down (except two young guys in vehicles who thought it would be funny to speed up and throw dirt on me). I'd like to say the road was clean, but beer bottles, cans and just general trash were everywhere. The views are pretty, but this is a one and done for me. The bugs you ask? Well, I will add a photo to give you an idea of what you are in for if you don't bring a head net. I did wear mine most of the time, but took it off for a nanosecond at the peak to get a couple photos and the bugs were relentless. I can't even imagine hiking it without a net this time of year. I enjoyed the drive up to the start of the trail. I wouldn't try it after rains though as the ruts are big.
