My friend was visiting from Tennessee and I made it my mission to expose her to every climate or biome present in Arizona (meaning we went from Petrified Forest to Saguaro with hikes all over). This has long been one of my favorites in the Superstitions, so naturally we had to hike this. There weren't a ton of people – we started the hike at 7 am and didn't need a headlamp. There was a lot of lichen, which is always a plus, but we didn't encounter a ton of blooming flowers quite yet. Based on what we were seeing, I'd say we'll need another 3 weeks for that. I will say that poles are super helpful for this hike since there are so many loose rocks, and make sure the shoes you are wearing have plenty of tread. There are always a lot of Very Good Dogs on this trail, and Sunday's hike didn't disappoint.
