After 6 of us completed Lassen, we stopped by the visitor center for a quick lunch, then 4 of us set off to climb Brokeoff. About half way through, two turned back, so only two of us Renare a few downed trees in the first couple miles, as people have been reporting, but nothing too difficult to get over or around. There are several creek crossings, but the biggest obstacle is a pond you need to get across about 1.5 miles in. We used the logs and branches as a bridge and stayed dry.  There is a pretty big snow patch at about the 2 mile mark, but it’s pretty flat and easy to cross.  Lots of other shorter patches, but I made it across in trail running shoes and poles.  If your shoes have good treads, you don’t really need any spikes.
