Hike Log

San Jacinto Peak

Trailhead:

Marion Mountain

Type of Hike:

Day hike

Trail Conditions:

Minor obstacles posing few problems

ROAD:

Road suitable for all vehicles

Bugs:

Bugs were an annoyance

Snow:

Snow free

Started at 7:00 AM, got off around 2:00 PM. Trail was overgrown and hard to follow in some places. Early start is definitely a good idea, as the rising sun is blocked by the mountain on the way up. Bugs swarmed me pretty much the whole way up but they didn't bite so it wasn't a big deal.

  1. I am planning to go next week, perhaps Tuesday if anyone wants to join. Do you think 6-6:39 am is a good starting time?

    1. Yeah I think that would be a good starting time. I got about halfway up the mountain, to the junction of the Marion Mountain trail and the PCT, before I lost the shade.
