Wow! What a great day with perfect weather, good trails and amazing views. Got there early hoping the gates would open before 8am and sure enough, this lady in her pajamas came out from the house next door at about 7:20 and opened the gate for those of us waiting. Be sure to have exact change ($6), and she said no need to write info on envelope. Just put stub in your window.  Doing this loop clockwise is the way to go. Trails up were steep and rocky. I’ve never missed switchbacks so much as there were really any so that made it tougher. I was dreading taking fire roads down but was quite surprised as the views on the top portion were wonderful and the last couple of miles were really nice with beautiful dry creek bed and fall colors. Also, felt good on the legs finishing with a flat section.
