We loved this hike!  Did the trail with my husband in about 3.5 hours. Parked at the Bald Mountain Parking Lot at about 8am and there were still a good amount of parking spots available.  The climb felt good, not too hard, but definitely put effort in.  Beautiful fog covering the valley so no views of Santa Cruz.  Nice and sunny day and thankful for all the shade on the trail.

Sat at the top and ate some lunch at the picnic benches.  The bugs did get a little annoying as we got to the summit.  First time using my trekking poles which were helpful getting passed a muddy, slippery spot in the trail. The only wildlife we spotted was a small chipmunk. Really enjoyed checking out the cube up close and learning about an interesting part of the Bay Area's history.
