Took my two girlfriends and my 1-year pup to the Mailbox Peak yesterday after seeing the recent trip reports saying the trail is snow-free (there was one small snow patch behind the mailbox which my overheated dog enjoyed immensely). I had hiked Mailbox in the past when it's fully snowed in with microspikes but never during spring/summer. Oh boy, the absolutely-no-shade last mile stretch through the talus field is no joke on a sunny & warm day. Search & Rescue was dispatched as there were two hikers suffering from heat stroke at the top. Bring plenty of water, wide brim hats and wear sunscreen <3

Such a fun hike. Good advise about being prepared for that exposed section.
