Did my first solo hike to test my new gear and see how far my feet could carry me. Game plan was to hike up to Kellys Camp, pitch the tent and drop some gear, bag Ontario and Bighorn. Ended up doing Ontario but only half of the Bighorn trail as it was getting late, my legs were tired, and i needed to save them to do Cucamonga the next day. Weather was ideal maybe even a little bit on the warm side and nighttime temps were probably low 60s – high 50s. Got a tip on a water source at Kelly camp but it was too difficult to locate the first night. Thankfully I was able to find it the next morning by listening real good for the sound of trickling water. So if you find yourself needing water at Kellys camp, head up towards the right past the furthest and highest campsite and continue on the same contour elevation for about 50 yards. There is a white pipe with a very small catchment behind a downed tree. The water was barely a trickle but enough to make my trip as I only had a litter left in the morning and needed more to do Cucamonga Peak.
