We first part of the hike was quite familiar since we hiked Cucamonga Peak less than 3 months ago. There were several groups that passed us as we made our way to the saddle. After stopping there for a short break, we headed towards Ontario Peak. It seemed like most of the hikers that passed us on the way up were headed to other waypoints since we didn’t really see many more hikers on the way to Ontario Peak. We made it to the peak just after 11am. There was only 1 other person there when we arrived, and shortly after another hiker came and went. We hung out at the peak for about an hour while we had our lunch before heading down. Overall, the trail was well maintained and pretty free of litter. There were some trees which blocked the trail that we needed to go over or under, but they weren’t too bad. Unfortunately we didn’t see any large wildlife. We saw a couple varieties of birds with beautiful blue feathers. We also saw several chipmunks at the peak. We saw some flowers but not many. There were some bushes with small red berries in them. It got warm in the afternoon, especially in the sun, so it was a welcomed relief whenever we got some shade and breeze.
