This was a beautiful hike. The bugs were a bit annoying at first, but halfway up I did not notice them anymore. I loved all the trees and low shrubs. There were parts which were exposed and had no shade, but there was a nice breeze to keep us cool. We passed a small stream on the way up at one of the switchbacks. There was also a great lookout point before reaching the Washington Monument. We did not find the survey marker at the summit, but the elevation sign was there.
This was a long hike, but the climb was gentler than the Mt Baldy hike.
