This mountain is such a teaser! From the bottom you think, that’s cool let’s go up there. Hey, why not camp up there. But then you say to yourself. I’ll need plenty of water. Now that’s the part that makes it hard! The easy trail that meanders through the edge of the desert seduces you, but then the trail morphs into something close to what hiking on Mars might be like. Don’t get me wrong on my description here…I LOVED all of it!!!! Just wanting to give an honest description. This is a tough hike.
The last half of this hike is hand and foot hiking straight up.
I spent the night and was a little concerned that my tent would blow away, but the as the sun went down so did the wind. After a nice camp meal of instant rice and tuna burrito I laid my tired head down an fell solid sleep for the night. This experience make me yearn for a long distance hike..can’t wait for my next opportunity to really get out there!
