One of the few lower peaks where on a clear day you get gorgeous views of parts of San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange Counties all at once. That is, if you don’t mind the 7-mile rough and uneven ride to the trailhead from the Maples Spring Visitor Center and sharing the dusty trail with off-roaders (with their large-wheeled 4x4s) and the (occasionally inconsiderate) dirt bikers. Other than that, the trail is only moderately steep with only the last mile and a half becoming a steady climb.
