El Cajon Mt is one of the hardest hikes in San Diego but you will get rewarded with awesome views. There are multiple inclines and declines, lots of loose rocks. Be prepared to climb up on your way back. On a hot, sunny day bring lots of water, snacks and sunblock. The last 0.5 mile to the top is now clearly marked with green posts and there is a summit sign. Parking lot opens at 8:00 am but you can park on side of the street if you wish to start early.
