We parked at the campground and hit the trail head by 8:20am. (after we paid the $10 pp at the station) The campground bathrooms are horrifying at the so we used nature's toilet instead!
The trail had a steady incline for about 2 miles. It was tough but we got through it. We took a little snack break after the 2 miles. The trail was mainly a dirt road with some snow in our path. Lots of trees, greenery, pine cones, patches of snow, lady bugs, sun and a nice cool breeze. It was a great day to hike. The scenery made you feel like you were far from San Diego. The trail traffic was light.
When we made it to the top we stopped to have our lunch break. The trail goes straight back the way you came.
