This trip was AWESOME! My friend Jill and I needed to complete Grey's in order to complete all 6 peaks. We had attempted this hike back in July, but due to events, were unable to complete. We are both too competitive to start something and not finish. We decided that we would load up the car after work on a Friday and get this hike complete! We were on the road by 3:30 on Friday, drove 10 hours to the trail head, arrived by 1:30 am, slept in the car until 3:30, and started our hike just after 4 am! This hike was a first for us both beginning a hike before the sun was up and having to use our head lamps. We loved getting to see the mountains come alive as the sun rose. We thought we were going to miss an incredible view with the sunrise, but there was so much cloud cover that there wasn't one according to the people coming down. When we were 3/4 of the way up, the sun peeked out and we were rewarded with incredible sites! When we got to the summit, it was very cold and extremely windy! We thought about tackling Tori's while we were there, but didn't have the proper supplies to take on the crossing up the ridge. We finished the entire hike in 6 hours and 58 mins. We jumped in the car and drove 10 hours back to Tulsa, OK! We left this hike with a real “Hiker's High”, a feeling of wanting to scale another mountain and taking in everything it has to offer! These challenges have been an exciting new challenge in my life that has me wanting to explore and accomplish more and more!
