Beautiful but windy day in Tucson to summit. We started just after 10am…after visiting the Visitor Center where I picked up my official Nationa Park Stamp Book and Saguaro Saguaro National Park Park Stamp…many adventures to come.
With King Canyon's TH closed at this time, we started from Sendero Esperanza TH, which requires a dirt road drive to access…easily done in a car. We proceeded to ascend to the summit via Hugh Norris … a well groomed, gradual incline. After finding the survey market at the summit, a few photos of gorgeous landscape, it was time to descend and find shelter from the wind. We chose to come down King's Canyon, which was a lil' more loose rock and felt to be a slightly steeper grade. We finished the loop hooking up with Sendero Esperanza, which included another climb to the Hugh Norris intersection where it was all downhill. This area must be insanely gorgeous in the spring time with poppies and ocotillos blooming. Very exposed trail … wear your sunscreen even in the winter time.
