It's not easy raising a child with Autism. A lot of the times, they are left out of certain experiences due to their challenges. I wanted to bring him somewhere, where he could feel like he was on top of the world. This hike did that. It changed my life significantly. Despite having to carry him on my shoulders most of the trail, seeing him hike, smile, and just enjoy himself meant the world to me. It meant he was included. Bagging this peak was the gateway to other difficult peaks in SoCal, but to me, it will never be as difficult as what he has to go through every single day because of his challenges. He is my why.
