I knew that it would be a hot day, so I started early at 5:30. I just passed the cabins when I decided I was not going to put up with the bugs any longer and I put on my net that I bought recently. Definitely a great investment!
This was my first time on the trail and I was taking my time, enjoying the wild flowers. I knew I should be trying to get up the mountain while it was cool, but I kept getting side tracked by the beauty. Normally I would be fine with that but I knew I needed to pay attention to the temperature.
I obviously got to the top and made it back but I probably should have enjoyed the nature on the way down. It was hot and I am glad I always bring extra water because I drank it all.
I only encountered a few hikers once I started my dissent. It was pretty quiet, overall, except for at the bottom, where families were enjoying the weekend near the cabins.
