This 10 mile hike started with a 4 mile climb, and an elevation gain of about 3,900 feet. Starting from the parking lot at 6:20am, I took the winding and very steep path up Ski Hut trail, reaching the summit around 10:50. Putting into context, that's a little over one hour per mile. The return route took me down the Devil's Backbone, past the Top Notch restaurant and zip lines, and back down to the waterfall. The water level was pretty low, but it was still a refreshing finish to the day. I was glad for the extra water I brought as the midday heat rose to 81*F. I finished all 4 liters of water that I brought. Highly recommend bringing extra water and some kind of electrolyte. Take your time at the top to enjoy the view, take some photos, and eat a good meal.
