This was my first time doing Santiago and I wanted to drive up through Silverado. I got to the trailhead right at day break so that I could drive the rest of the way under daylight since I have never been up there. It is an easy drive up the truck trail to the he maple Springs trail. I have a 2WD  Chevy truck and it is more than capleabme if driving up the truck trail. It turned out to be 8.5 miles from there. And I got it done in 2.75 hrs.
