Got up early and drove down from Los Angeles to grab peak four of the San Diego six pack. I got started a little after 8 am with no other cars in the parking lot. The first quarter of the climb was in the open but before it got to warm. Ran into one snake sunning itself on the roadway. Said hello and moved around, onward, upward. Once I got up to the tree line and the nicer portion of the trail the bugs were ever present. Not biting but flying around my head. A minor annoyance, but having read another hikers warning earlier in the week regarding bugs I kicked myself for forgetting insect repellent. Nice pleasant hike overall with a glider being towed overhead as I neared the summit. Had the trail to myself except for one couple heading up as I was returning.
