After a week, I came back for the hike again.
I got up late to make sure a good sleep and enough rest. I set out at 9:30 am, and when I arrived at the trailhead was about noon.
I brought 3 liters of water and took a lightweight down jacket as it was pretty windy. When I started the climb at 12:25 pm, 3 to 4 groups of hikers were coming down. I am a bit worried about being late to get out before completely turning dark.
The trail condition is very good, also passes through woods and the turning leaves are beautifully showing the fall color. I took some bright yellow oak tree leaf pictures with joy. The first 2 miles kept me climbing, just the same as the indication on Alltrail.com.
In 2.5 hours, I summited. In the last 500 yards, I have to reply to Alltrail map's navigation. The trail leads you from the lookout tower to the summit rock which is in deep woods and bushes. The so-called summit actually is serval huge rocks, there's a lad, seems likely you could climb it up to the top of the rock. I attempted but gave it up at the end. Since I was the only one up there, the previous hiker just left when I arrived, so I preferred to be more cautious.
Then I took some pictures of the summit board, and walked to the back of the rock, from there I climbed another piece of rock which is shorter than the main rock. From there I took another round of pictures until I was satisfied. Nice, it's good enough!
After 15 minutes, I started to take back. The sun was gradually sunken. The light was soft and good for view shots. On the way back, I took enough pictures for this trip.
When I got back to my car, it was just right about to get dark before I really needed my headlamp. Well done!
