The night before the hike CMB and I were looking at recent logged hikes of Cucamonga Peak. One listed 4” of snow and our friend Matthew bailed out “4” is nothing. I have 4” of snow on my face right now!”-CMB

I couldn’t sleep that night, so I went to sleep on the couch so I wouldn’t disturb CMB.

Charity met us at the house and we took off for the trail. The Boyfriend was on his way too.

We met at the trailhead and after some scurrying around for passed and permits we began.

Lots of stops and breaks but I felt pretty good. We got to the beginning of the snow and ice and CMB and Charity turned around. The Boyfriend and I continued. We made it to Saddleback and took a break. He took a nap and I made a snow angel and threw a snowball at him. After a few minutes e continued. Put on the micro spikes and trudged through the snow.

About a mile? Mile and a half? From the top The Boyfriend bailed. “GO you’re this far. I’m slowing you down. You have to do it.”

So I continue alone. About 15 minutes after I left him I realized he had my phone. Ugh.

I finally summit! I found a nice couple who took my picture and sent it to me. Yay! We chatted for a few minutes and ate. I celebrated with my summit beer.

Back down! Met up with The Boyfriend. He told stories on our way back down. Got back to the car after dark. Oops.

Then went for Chicken and Waffles.

Planned he trip for 5, started as 4, continued as 2, and summited as 1.
