Hiked up Mt. Wilson. There doesn't seem to be any real sign for the summit. We were directed over to an area that was probably like 60-90′ lower than the highest point of the complex (telescopes and other buildings). The sign that was there looks like something recently placed there by someone, but it doesn't seem very official (small piece of wood written with a sharpee…see photo).
The view where it was at was nice though.

But why 18 miles? You added extra?
I wondered around up top for about 40 minutes looking for a sign, and I started tracking from where I parked (maybe a little more than a 1/4 mile from trailhead…the real hike is probably closer to 15-16 miles I would say.
