I really like Mt Baden-Powell…a lot! I’ve always gone the Vincent Gap trail, but never via Islip Saddle. And I really like the trail out of IS, so it only made sense that I take a longer, more challenging route since I had completed the original 6Pops and I still needed a hike to fill my Saturday.

It’s a little over 16 miles so not any tougher than Gorgonio Peak and probably more in line with San Bernardino Peak. The view and the trail is totally worth it.

One thing I learned on this trip to the top of MBP, was that the mountain was known as North Baldly prior to the name change in 1931. I had never seen the USGS marker for North Baldy. It’s sitting to the side of the trail on the southeast side of the peak. So cool!

One thing to be on the lookout for at the top is gliders. Not sure where they’re coming from, but I usually see them in the direction of Palmdale. Today though was by far the coolest glider experience ever. They were buzzing the peak and it was pretty freakin’ awesome! That was just icing on the cake to a wonderful day.
