This is my third Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge and once again, I'm starting it off with bagging Mount Wilson via the Old Mount Wilson Trail (Sierra Madre). This was the first time we encountered snow on this summit. It was beautiful and really added to the adventure at hand. One BIG advisory is to watch out for the huge amount of Poodle Dog Bush in the burn area which is in the last 1/4 mile before the summit.

I've heard about some people who are dismissive when it comes to Mount Wilson. That it shouldn't be in the Six-Pack. Yeah, there's a parking lot at the summit, and a cafe which serves a really good Apple Pie A La Mode, but so what. The Mount Wilson Trail is a challenging 15-mile out-and-back trek with about 4,700′ of elevation gain. And the views from the summit are just as impressive as any other in the Six-Pack. I hope Mount Wilson stays on the list. It makes for one awesome day on the trail!
