The last time we hiked Mt Baldy, we ascended up through Devil's backbone trail and made our way down the Ski hut route. The Ski Hut route while short is brutal on the knees and after that hike I decided never to do go down that route again.
This time around we did an out and back from Manker Flats through the devils' backbone trail. The last mile up and down is brutal on the legs with very little room for error. There are some spots on the trail that have enough room for only one footstep and a sheer drop down and add to that the high cross winds. Fortunately did not see anyone hurt or fall. Hate you Baldy….
The view from the top though is amazing and the atmosphere at the top was one of party. It is not an easy hike but very rewarding. Love you Baldy…
