Hiked old trail up, new trail down. This trail tested me, especially with the current snowy conditions which made it an extra slog going up and slippery on the descent. Microspikes and poles are a must and some used axes, mainly to glissade. My group didn't intend to glissade, but all of us lost footing, slipped, and slid down the slope at some point. Not for the faint of heart in March but gorgeous at the summit with 360 views, Mt. Rainier included. Also found a deer leg on the trail so guessing a cougar was in, or had been in, the area. All in all, a challenging and rewarding hike and happy to have this one down.

Looks like an awesome day on the “trail”. Wild to see the mailbox buried so deep in the snow!
Yes indeed – thanks for the comment!
