The Gold Lake Road is in great shape for any type of vehicle. The hike was through the forest for about 5.5 miles before coming out among the White Bark Pines as the summit approach. Some have said that isn’t very interesting but we found it to be a beautiful cool forest. A stream runs through near the 2-mile mark. The signage was good and we had no problem staying on the trail. Views from the summit were great to the south….Odell and Crescent Lakes, Thielsen, Mt. Bailey, and Diamond Peak…. but hazy from wildfire smoke to the north. A great day:-)
