Headed up with a group early on Tuesday morning. This is a hot, full exposure hike so we wanted to get going before the sun. The journey to Muir is long and the snowfield goes on forever. We brought ice axes just in case but felt comfortable stowing them and using just poles and microspikes. One in our group brought incredible snacks including ingredients for mimosas. Highly recommend. Muir is a nice place to hang out and watch climbers coming down from the summit and up from below. We arrived at Muir around 10:00 and were some of the first of the day. By the time we headed down around 12:00, it was getting very busy. Glissading is possible but not great in the warm snow. Still fun and better than walking. The trails above Paradise were insanely crowded. A bit of a letdown after the companionable and scattered groups we saw on the snow. All in all, a great day though.

Sounds like a fun day!
When I did this back in May it probably wasn’t as crowded… but even then it was crowded around Paradise.
