It was a beautiful night for a Mission Peak hike. The weather was cold, but not freezing and, while it was breezy, it never got windy. Since it was a late fall evening, the conditions could have been far worse.
We started out from Ohlone College at 6:00pm and made our way towards the peak. As we slowly ascended the mountain, the moon appeared on the horizon, helping light our way (fortunately, we all brought headlamps, so it wasn’t our only light source). We reached the summit and saw a field of thousands of lights below us in the South Bay. It was one of the most most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen!
We then descended the mountain and got back to our car around 9:00pm. In total, we traveled 7.25 miles and gained about 1,927 feet of elevation.
