I haven't been here in 4 1/2 years! (Blog link: https://alpharoaming.com/2013/12/04/mission-peak/ ). I know this hike is EXTREMELY popular, so when I had a free weekday morning, this was my choice! I arrived at 8AM, and still found the main Stanford Ave lot full, as well as a bunch of cars on Vineyard Avenue, a block down the hill (I found a spot there) Lotsa dog walkers! It's a very dog-friendly trail, with some warning signs to take proper care of your 4-legged companions when it's hot.
Enjoyed the hike, including wearing my SixPack shirt, and unfurling the banner at the top. The two ladies that took my summit picture were interested in the Challenge, so I gave them a postcard with the details. They knew all the peaks, except Sizer, and were also famiiliar with many of the SoCal hiking summits.
Perfect weather, and even got to pet a Gopher snake on the way down! It was alive, but didn't seem healthy. I gave it a gentle rub, to get it to move off the trail. There were a few fast mountain bikes, that might be a problem!
Fun hike. Two down, four to go! (Strava link https://www.strava.com/activities/1640486340 )
