I did this hike just for fun in July before it was added to the list of options for this year’s challenge, but now I need to log it because so many options are still closed from the wildfires. I had hiked up Mission Peak a couple of times before, but this time the plan was to hike Mission Peak to Monument Peak! My friend Rani met me at the trailhead for Monument Peak where we left her car. Then I drove us to the trailhead of Mission Peak. I remember the entire hike took about 7 hours, including rest stops and having lunch on Monument Peak, and it. was. so. hot. There were so many people hiking Mission Peak, but we didn’t see anyone on the hike across to Monument Peak and we only passed a few people as we descended Monument Peak. I must have been allergic to something growing on Monument Peak because I had horrible sniffles for the entire descent. Also, we somehow missed a turn on the descent and ended up taking a slightly longer route back to the parking lot where we had left Rani’s car, but it was a great challenge!
