Trail snow-covered at times – Gear and expertise recommended

This was a snow hike where there were times our foot slid through a snow hole. We didn’t get injured but crampons were a must. I tried to take a short cut (bad idea) and ended up sliding down the mountain and could not stop myself. I found out that using my feet as breaks was the answer. It was getting dark fast so we almost made it to the very top and had to run back down to make it before it got dark. One of the most memorable things I remember was how the wind moved through the trees. You could hear the wood creaking in a distinct way like the trees were talking to each other. I ended up bringing my jetboil and that was the best hot meal I had up there on the cold mountain.
