Top 3 things I underestimated about the trail to Mount Wilson:
- This hike is difficult- Don't let the fact that this hike is first of six hikes. The straightaways are long and endless, the switch backs are at times brutally steep, and trail descends at times when you want to ascend.
- This hike is long- 15+ miles. That is long and you really notice it on the way back.
- How much I love this trail- I saw the photos of the paved parking lot on the top and wasn't super excited. This trail has all the trappings of makes a hike memorable; running water, shady parts with tree covering, multiple trail options to the top, and great views.
