Mt Baden-Powell was my first high elevation, vertical hike above 9000. You start at 2000 ft at the trailhead, and as you go up the mountain for about 5 miles, elevation gain is about 7200. There were 40 switchbacks, and every turn gave amazing views of the Mojave Desert and San Bernardino Forests. Around 8500 ft I started to have symptoms of high altitude sickness, but my friends helped me through it, providing lots of encouragement and support. I was emotional when I reached the summit. Truly, an unforgettable experience.
