My favorite. Snow-covered trail, steady ascent, plenty of people. EVERYONE discouraged us from going to Cucamonga, which was the original idea. Without snow gear, our two-man team nixed Cucamonga. Ontario stroked my curiosity. My partner thought I was crazy, I just wanted to accomplish something.
And accomplish I did. Made it up Ontario with trench-foot, and then sliding down below the saddle on my parka-covered back along impromptu switchback-cutting snow shoots. Go in early spring, you'll see what I mean.
Temperature? Cold, but you warm up quickly. Avoid trench-foot, wear gaiters.
