Well, we all have our weaknesses or “Achilles Heel”. Even when hiking. Mine is Iron Mountain. However, today it was literally my Achilles. Pain, inflammation, etc. hindered me today. However, I pushed through it to complete my 4th peak of the original 6 Pack of Peaks Challenge by summiting San Gorgonio.

The weather today was perfect throughout the hike. The peak was a warm 50+ degrees with no wind. Trail conditions varied. At the lower elevations the trail was well maintained and easy to follow. LOTS of water all the way through Halfway Camp and then again near High Creek Camp.

I didn't encounter any significant amounts of snow until about 11,000 feet. It was enough that I felt the need to wear microspikes. I saw a couple of hikers crossing the snow without, but they had a sketchy time with it. Most use spikes or turned back.

All in all, it was a great day! 🙂
