6/24/2023:

I was invited to a Cucamonga Peak hike by 3H Hiking Group.  We obtained our day hike permits on sgwa.org.  It was a very easy process to obtain hiking permits through this website.

We started the hike at 5 a.m.  The lot was almost full when I arrived.  The trail was in a very good condition.  I stayed with the slow paced group to enjoy the trails and wanted to take alot of photos.  The water current was very strong coming from the creek.  The vegetation were very lush.  There weren't any snow.  Once I reached the saddle, I rested and ate some snacks.  Then I proceeded on.  This hike was fairly easy for me.  I think because I hiked up to Mount Baldy three times before this hike.  The Cucamonga trail was very busy today.  Alot of hikers were hiking up there.  At Cucamonga Peak, I didn't stay long because it was crowded and noisy.

Coming down Cucamonga Peak, I decided to take the Chapman Trail.  I didn't know what I was thinking at the time.  Like OMG!  The Chapman Trail was a sufferfest for me.  It was so scree crossing those cliffs.  There were a few fallen trees I had to overcome.  And those boulder crossings were a torture.  I was so happy once I reached Cedar Glen Campground.  I knew I had another 2 mile from the junction.  I then hurried myself down the trails.

Finally, I saw the powerlines below.  It was the junction leading out to Icehouse Canyon.  I quickly came down it and back to my car.

I always love hiking up Cucamonga Peak.  That rock is so iconic.  I religiously hike up to Cucamonga Peak every year.  And this hike had fulfilled my pilgrimage.
