I have never been here and was doing it solo. I was happy to see the trailhead so easy to find. I read the recent descriptions and all were helpful. Although there is a lot of brush and long pants are recommended there is no bushwhacking. I had concerns on the last portion that was so steep. Having experience it was easy for me going up. I have a super chicken side of me that made going down scary. So I do this squat shuffle thing and manage really well. The trail was marked well and easy to follow. At 8am it was 57 degrees. When I finished at 12:40 it was 77 degrees. The breeze was cool I wore a ball cap and a knit cap would have been better. Such a lovely trail. Having just rained the views were spectacular. You could San Clemente and Catalina islands, San Gabe’s … all around forever. I feel out of shape and only a little sore the next day.
I signed up for this because I have done all the big mountains but not the others; 2021 is my year. Pretty stoked.
