Saved the best hike for last. This trail had some gorgeous views on a cool June morning. Hiking through the trees and shade was a nice reward for some of the steeper stretches. We included the quiet loop road as a slight detour to our hike on the return. This wooded trail was not maintained and really took us into nature and off the fire road. We had the mountain to ourselves and only spotted two hikers on our way down. Climbing the rock at the summit was the extra slice of adventure to cap off the completion of the six pack of peaks challenge.a very rewarding hike with views for days atop San Diego’s highest mountain.
