Make sure to use Google maps or anything other then Waze to get to trailhead or you’ll end up at a private property. As you turn into the street to the trailhead, keep in mind 5 miles of the road has potholes at around 2-3 mile of that is an ok paved road. Corte Madrea is not that hard nor is it very challenging compared to other peak challenges in SD. It took us over 2 hrs to get here for a 7.8 mile hike….either add Pinos to the hike to make it challenging or look for another Peak worth the challenge (my opinion but I’m sure I’m not the only one) there were lots of rock scramble, big boulders a pretty cool manzanita trail..hike when it’s cool out
