My hiking buddy, Stacy and I arrived in the dark. We parked on Invergordon Rd. and headed up to Cholla Lane to the trailhead. As soon as the sun started peeking over the horizon, the hordes started flocking to this mountain. When we got to the saddle, we began the scramble to the peak. It is a lengthy scramble with blue or white paint on the rocks to help you navigate along the ridge. If you are not familiar with this trail or are new to scrambling up and over rocks and boulders, this trail can be quite frustrating due to the number of people coming up with you or heading down at you. Many folks simply want to scramble over you. I found this maddening to say the least. We peaked, had a quick bite, took photos, loved the view but the hordes not so much. The mountain is close to Scottsdale and Phoenix, and it is a great workout, so I understand about the number of people it attracts. However, for me, it really took away from experiencing the desert and nature in that area. Not a fan.
